Nan Doerr’s Home Page

Hi. My name is Nan Doerr. To tell you a little bit about myself, I am a priest in the Episcopal Diocese of Texas. I graduated from The Episcopal Theological Seminary of the Southwest on May 16, 2000 with a Masters of Divinity. I was ordained to the transitional diaconate is June 17, 2000 and I was ordained to the Sacred Order of Priests on June 17, 2001. My sponsoring parish is Grace Episcopal Church in Alvin, Texas.

In addition to being in seminary I was the Lay Vicar of St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Rockdale from February 1999 through May 2000.

I spent 6 years as assistant rector to St. Stephens Episcopal Church in Huntsville. I was also the campus minister for the Episcopal Student Center at Sam Houston State University.

As of July 1, 2006 I have been called as rector to Church of the Redeemer in Houston, Texas.

This is an exciting place to be and it is an exciting time to be here.  Come visit our 10:30 worship service on Sunday mornings and feel God’s love and power.

I am a Cursillista, a member of the Order of the Daughters of the King and a member of the Order of St. Luke. I have also been a member of the task force for Criminal Justice in the Diocese of Texas.

I bring a varied and diverse background to my ministry. In the past I have been a high school band director, a police officer, a junior high and high school math teacher. I have studied and been a hospital chaplain at St. Luke's Episcopal Hospital in Houston, Texas and also been involved in Kairos Prison Ministry.

This is Sam, my husband.  I consider him God’s gift.  He is a willing partner on this journey in Christ.

And this is our grandson, Jareth.  He was born last May, two months early.  He spent 6 weeks in Neonatal ICU before finally coming to live with Mom and Dad.
