Two Very Important Days!

Graduation Day

May 16, 2000

Believe me, after a lapse of more than 25 years, it was very unusual to enter the school routine once again. I attended both St. Mary's Seminary in Houston and Episcopal Theological Seminary of the Southwest in Austin. Graduation day was a very exciting day for me - and proof positive that you are never too old to follow your dream,

Yes, here I am, gray hair and all, finally realizing a dream come true - a master's hood. This is the third master's program I've started and the first one that I've finished. I am finally Nan Lewis Doerr, M.Div. The service was held at Good Shepherd Episcopal Church in Austin.

Here I am surrounded by part of my "twenty-something" fan club - some of my favorite people! From left to right: Lea, my son Andy, my daughter Cyndy, myself, Carol and Richie. I felt very blessed that they wanted to come up for my graduation. As you can see it was an absolutely beautiful day - the sun was shining and the birds were singing - God blessed from beginning to end.

Also present were Sam's brother, Danny, his sister Kathy, (me in the middle), Sam and my friend Leah.

I was also blessed by the presence of Austin artist, Mary Doerr, and her mother Eva Colley.
