Two Very Important Days!
Ordination Day
June 17, 2000
Three years - actually four - of preparation, of study and finally the BIG day arrives. The excitement was running extra high that Saturday. Six people in the Diocese of Texas are ordained to the diaconate by The Right Reverend Claude E. Payne, Bishop of Texas. It was my privilege and honor to be one of those six people.

Visiting with friends before the service - The Rev. Lynne Dukes visits with Milton, Patrick and myself. Lynne, a classmate from ETSS, was ordained a deacon the previous Sunday in the Diocese of Florida. |

Anticipation!!! Chilling out before the service we visited with clergy who would participate in the service. It was a good time to see old friends a make new ones. |
|
The time has come. The six of us walk across the courtyard from the offices to the nave of Christ Church Cathedral in Houston, Texas. |

Inside Christ Church Cathedral - we stand before the bishop. Having responded to the charges and pledging our faith, we prepare for the laying on of hands by the bishop to impart the Holy Spirit and make us deacons in Christ's holy church. |
|
The end of the service after we processed out - The Rev. Frankie Rodriquez, Patrick Miller, myself Milton Black and Canon Kevin Martin sing the final hymn. |

After the service we had the opportunity to greet our friends and guests. Here are Leah Elliott, Charlie Lamb, and The Rev. Vincent Uher with me. David McLane can be seen (just barely) to the left. |
